The campground consists of four single campsites on the west side of Duncan Reservoir, and a group campsite on the north end of the reservoir, below the dam. Additional facilities at Duncan Reservoir include a boat ramp, vault toilet, covered picnic area, and several picnic tables and fire grates. Camping
There is something special about camping in a Tennessee State Park – sleeping under the night sky, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the sound of a crackling campfire, the hoot of an owl, the rustle of the leaves in the breeze. Whether you are bringing the whole family for an RV rendezvous or looking for quiet solitude, Tennessee State Parks offer a variety of unique camping experiences.
RESERVATIONS
Reservations for camping may be made online or by calling the park. For camping, the entire cost of the stay plus taxes and reservation fee must be paid at the time of the reservation. Reservations for campsites and picnic shelters may be made up to one year prior to check-in.
RV Sites
RV sites are developed sites available for vehicles ranging in length from 20 to 100 feet. Most campsites maintain soft gravel or paved pads and are easily leveled Sites are equipped with water and electricity and many have sewer hookups. Most RV sites also allow a tent.
Tent Sites
Some parks offer tent-only sites. These sites may have electric hookups and many have campsite water or access to a nearby community water spigot.
Primitive Sites
These sites are for tent camping only and water and electrical hookups are not available. These sites are minimally developed.
Wrangler Sites
Chickasaw and Natchez Trace offer Wrangler Campgrounds, ideal for bringing your horse. The campgrounds accommodate RVs and horse trailers. Campsites include electric and water hookups and hitching lines.
Group Campsites
Group campsites are ideal for larger groups of campers. Amenities and campsite capacities vary at each park.
GREEN CAMPGROUNDS
Many Tennessee State Park campgrounds are trash-free. Instead of trash cans at each site, you will find a centrally located dumpster and recycling bins. Please practice Leave No Trace while visiting the park.
PETS
All campgrounds are pet-friendly. However, pets must be on a leash and under control at all times. Certain areas such as picnic areas, beaches, swim areas, and food service areas may be restricted to pets. For the safety of your pet, and the safety of park wildlife pets may not be left unattended.
Firewood Policy
Tennessee State Parks asks that all campfires be made with certified heat-treated wood or downed wood collected inside the park, near the campsite. Please do not bring untreated wood into the park. many parks sell bundles of firewood, or it may be purchased nearby.

Backcountry Campsites
These sites are undeveloped, but most will have a fire ring. Hiking is required to reach the campsite and most do not have potable water. Water must be filtered from natural sources or carried in. Please allow enough time to reach your destination in daylight.

State Parks
‘Rough it’ out in the wilderness at one of our awesome state parks! Many parks offer campsites and cabins, some offering electricity, too!
Deep Creek Lake State Park offers 112 campsites, 26 electrics sites, a picnic table, fire ring, lantern post, and a wildlife resistant food storage box on each site. They also have heated bathhouses, a dump station, freshwater fill up spot, free boat trailer parking, overnight dock slip use, and even some mini cabins and other lodging options! The park itself offers a sandy lakefront area, fishing areas, bathrooms, playgrounds, and hiking and biking trails. All in all, the park encompasses 1,800 acres!!
You can also camp at Swallow Falls State Park! Their new ‘Operation CAMPOUT’ program offers all of the gear you need to camp, free of charge! The park offers 65 camping sites (some with electricity) that include a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. Three of the sites offer a full hook-up that includes electricity, water, and sewer, and three sites with water and electricity. They also have three camper cabins that offer electric heat and beds. All campers have access to the bathhouses and picnic and pavilion areas. The park offers access to some of Maryland’s most scenic natural beauty, including the tallest free-falling waterfall, Muddy Creek Falls. The loop around the park totals just over a mile.
New Germany State Park is one of our area’s best kept secrets! The 2,900 acre park includes several miles of trails, a lake, multiple pavilions, cabins, and campsites! The park offers 12 cabins ranging in rooms, bed sizes, and amenities. All cabins are equipped with at least one full bathroom with shower, complete kitchen with dishes and cutlery, refrigerator, microwave, conventional oven, range, and coffeemaker. They also offer 48 campsites – some big enough for large motorhomes! They do not offer hook-ups for electric, water, or sewer, though. The park offers several programs throughout the summer, too! Guests can hike, fish, swim, and learn about our beautiful area! New Germany State Park also participates in the free Operation CAMPOUT program.
Duncan Full Hook Up Campsites On The Beach
Herrington Manor State Park, located just a few miles from Swallow Falls State Park, offers a recreational lake, several miles of trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, and cabins! The park has 20 cabins total, each with electricity, a full bathroom, kitchens, and fireplaces! The cabins range in size according to people staying, ranging from 2 person all the way 6 person cabins! Bed sizes and availability for pets varies per cabin. They do not offer campsites.

The lush and wild terrain of the Savage River State Forest is the closest to nature you can get! There are 70 primitive sites available for campers! The park does not allow for fires of any kind for protective reasons and the Leave No Trace rules apply to all visitors and campers. You do have to register to use these sites and there are some restrictions, so make sure to read up on all their guidelines here.
RV & Camper Sites
Bring all the comforts of your RV or camper and enjoy lake life at Deep Creek! You can reserve a spot at an RV park with all of the hook-ups needed, like Double G RV Park or Bumble Bee RV Park & Campground! Both sites are located just minutes to all Deep Creek Lake attractions. Their spots fill up fast, especially for holiday weekends, so make sure you reserve your slip early! Some parks offer parking or even hook-up sites for your RV, too. Deep Creek Lake State Park, Swallow Falls State Park, and New Germany State Park all offer pads with all the hook-ups you need. There are also some spots at state forests, like Savage River State Forest.

Backing up to Garrett State Forest, the campsite offers several miles of hiking and biking trails and river access on a private 350 acres! Each hut is equipped with a double bed, additional seating/pullout bed, cabin cooking center with stove, dining table, lighting and a propane heater. Camp amenities include a bathhouse, large covered pavilion, and plenty of space! The Wild Yough Glamping Huts are located just down the road from Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls, and just minutes to downtown Oakland, Deep Creek Lake, and Wisp Resort!
